Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using SafeRent Canada ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age and legally capable of entering into binding contracts to use the Platform. By registering, you confirm that you meet these requirements.

3. Account Registration

  • You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
  • You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account.
  • One person may not maintain more than one account.

4. User Roles and Verification

The Platform supports the following roles:

  • Tenant: Browse listings, contact landlords, request proxy viewings.
  • Landlord: Create and manage property listings.
  • Verifier: Provide proxy viewing services for a fee.

Identity verification is required to access certain features. You must submit accurate government-issued identification. Submitting false or fraudulent documents will result in immediate account termination.

5. Listings

  • Landlords are responsible for the accuracy of their listings.
  • Listings must represent real properties you own or are authorized to rent.
  • Fraudulent, misleading, or duplicate listings are strictly prohibited.
  • We reserve the right to remove listings that violate our policies.

6. Proxy Viewing

  • Proxy viewing requests are fulfilled by verified verifiers.
  • The fee for proxy viewing is $30 CAD per session.
  • SafeRent Canada is not a party to the viewing arrangement; we facilitate the connection.
  • Verifiers must conduct viewings professionally and accurately represent properties.

7. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Post fraudulent, misleading, or scam listings
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
  • Attempt to circumvent identity verification
  • Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose
  • Scrape, copy, or systematically download Platform content
  • Interfere with the Platform's infrastructure or security

8. Intellectual Property

All Platform content, branding, and software are the property of SafeRent Canada. Users retain ownership of content they upload but grant us a non-exclusive licence to display it within the Platform.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that listings are accurate, that users are who they claim to be, or that the Platform will be uninterrupted or error-free.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SafeRent Canada shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
